Bill Murphy attended Brooklyn College, the School of Visual Arts, the Art Students League, and Vermont College, where he received the MFA.  At the SVA he studied with, among others, Jim Kearns, Herb Katzman, Marshall Arisman, and Robert Weaver.  His work is included in the collections of the British Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the Staten Island Museum, the Newark Public Library, the New York Transit Museum, Nassau Community College, the Denver Art  Museum, Hofstra University, the New York Historical Society, and the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Murphy has taught at Wagner College since 1984 and is exhibiting his work in the College gallery in an exhibition called The Ballad of Staten Island. aburninglight.com
