This musical program offers an engaging look at the varied roles and experiences of women in the maritime world. Debra Cowan selected sea shanties and songs through which she takes listeners on a journey through time, sharing tales of humor and hardship, and the challenges faced by women in maritime history. Sirens and supernatural women, the women left behind, and women disguised as men are among the themes she explores. This lecture is a FREE performance, funded by the AFM Music Performance Trust Fund.
