Join us on Sunday, May 18 at 12 PM for the first of six lectures in historian Patricia Salmon’s Historic Neighborhoods of Staten Island series. Described as a model village, Port Richmond was the place to live, conduct business, worship, and find amusement in the nineteenth century. This lecture will uncover the history of this fascinating community from its Dutch settlement to when it was the “Queen of Avenues” for shopping. Architecture, business, industry, famous people, and landmarks will also be featured. What do Melody Ann's, Weissglass Stadium, and the Staten Island Whaling Company all have in common? They were all in Port Richmond!
This event is FREE with museum admission.
