J. Michael Verhey is a native Staten Islander.  He worked as the Executive Director of the SI Broadway YMCA until 2020.  He has always enjoyed photography and began selling his work in 2000 when he entered his first Snug Harbor Fence show and won the Best in Show award.  Since then he has been selling his work in the tri-state area at local shops, galleries, and fairs.  As one of its co-founders, along with George Roos, Verhey served as the vice president of the Staten Island Creative Photographers Guild from 2007 until 2010 and helped develop programs for the Y and Eger Nursing Home that help children and seniors enjoy photography.
