Donated by Kathy Noble
Margaret Carr (1945-2025) was an artist specializing in pen and ink drawings. She earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts, majoring in painting, from Alfred University in 1967 and a Masters Degree in Art Education also from Alfred University in 1971, majoring in graphics. She taught art for many years in New York, Chicago, and Maryland. Carr owned a printing and graphics business and did much of its more complex graphic projects. Her work was handled and shown in New York and Chicago galleries including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Suzuki Gallery in New York, and the Elaine Benson Gallery in Bridgehampton, New York. She participated in many group shows, including at the Firehouse Gallery in Garden City, New York, and the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, New York. Carr was a big fan of John A. Noble and the Noble Maritime Collection. She passed away earlier this year and her twin sister Kathy Noble has selected this piece to honor her sister as one of her best pen and ink drawings.
