Donated by Nancy Vanderbilt

Rudolf Veit (1892-1979) was a German impressionist and modern artist whose work has appeared in public auctions more than 70 times. Born in Czechia, his paintings, watercolors, and etchings focused on depictions of European cities such as Germany, Bohemia (now known as the Czech Republic), and Spain. Veit is known for his incredibly detailed etchings of twentieth-century European urban landscapes, having produced limited editions of only 200 that have sold primarily in Germany but also abroad. His pastel on vellum depicting the Pantheon in Athens holds the record price for his art at auction, being sold for 1,414 USD at the Van Ham Fine Art Auctions in 2011.
