LOT 0042

Scott Van Campen
Sailors’ Knife
Hand-forged 120-layer Damascus steel (15N20 and 1084), featuring a handle of reclaimed heart pine salvaged from a beam removed during the renovation of the 1840-built Noble Maritime Collection, 2025

The display stand is also made from the same beam.

Scott Van Campen transforms industrial and mechanical materials into poetic forms of motion and balance. Drawing on over 35 years of experience in high end metal fabrication, his sculptures merge creativity and craftsmanship —reimagining steel, machinery, and kinetic energy as living works of art. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Van Campen’s work has been exhibited at the Lumen Festival, Chashama, and other venues, and is represented in both public and private collections, including Richard Nicotra, Lincoln Center, and the United Nations. As Co-Founder and Executive Director of Makerspace NYC, he continues to inspire collaboration and innovation across New York City’s creative community.
